We had also been told when we reached Santiago that baggage limit on this flight was 15 kg per person. Lynn was... a little annoyed. So we spent a fair bit of time trying to get the weight in the suitcases down, largely by maximising the weight in the handluggage and in the items we were wearing. That left us only a bit of time to read and walk down to the lakefront.
It was a short drive to the airport, during which we were told that Viking would pick up the excess baggage charges. However we got away without any fees due to Lynn's packing regime and a bag inspector who granted us a little leeway. That also led to an uncomfortable flight as we were wearing our heaviest clothing and carrying a lot. The seats were tight and the woman in front of Lynn insisted on keeping her seat reclined for most of the flight, which came very close to an air rage incident.
Anyway, we were glad to drive through BA, which really didn't take long. The embarkation to the ship was a bit slow and clumsy but we got there, and after putting a couple of things away we went to the cafe for dinner. Which was great; sushi, various hot foods, and nice gelatis amongst other things.
We have spent the last hour or so washing some clothes, figuring out the dryers and finding places to put everything. Very glamorous. Still, reliable wifi, at leastn in port, which will be good.
