On Friday we were up reasonably early (for us), so we could be out of the house at 10am. Tom drove us up to visit Lynn's old in-laws, Rose and Maxine for an hour or so.
It was nice visit and let us drive around afterwards so that Lynn could point out where everyone used to live (and where everything used to be before it was pulled down). Though I'm not sure they'd want to live in those places now. Tom then navigated the traffic to get us to Bluewater to do some shopping. We had some lunch and got a couple of things in Marks and Spencer, then walked the length of the mall, but it was far too crowded to be pleasant and we were happy to get away.
The earlier start didn't set a new standard and we struggled to wake up on Saturday. Mid morning we went to Westwood Cross, which is essentially a shopping outlet complex near Broadstairs, so on the Eastern tip of England south of the Thames Estuary. We ended up spending a couple of hours there, and got back mid-afternoon.
We went for another walk in the afternoon - necessarily short, as it was after 3pm and it starts to get dark after 4. It was so grey that it was hard to see where the sea ended and the sky began, and hard to predict when it would get dark as we couldn't see the sun. We walked along the seafront, then around the village streets.
In the evening we went to A Casa Mia, an authentic Neapolitan pizza restaurant.
