In keeping with the last couple of days, and, I think, the usual weather here, today was wet.
When we got up we were docking in Puerto Montt. It was cloudy and raining, and we got soaked just getting from the ship to our bus at 8.30. We didn't really get to see anything of Puerto Montt as the bus took us straight to Puerto Varas on the shore of Lago Llanquihue and then on to our first stop of the day at Petrohue. The cataracts there were impressive and the water is a striking emerald colour.
We were meant to go from there to Osorno Volcano, and we sort of did. We spent an hour driving up the switchback road to the ski lift high on the volcano's flank, but it was so cloudy we couldn't see any further than the gravel car park. So we turned around and went to lunch at Puerto Varas. It seems a pleasant town, and after lunch we had a look around for a while before the bus back to the ship.
It had brightened up by the time we got back:
In the evening we caught up with the 21 other people who'd been on the pre-cruise trip around Patagonia.
