Awake before 9, so it seems our jetlag is settled (overconfident?). Excellent hotel breakfast, which makes me regret missing it yesterday. I do like this hotel, all dark wood with lots of prints on the walls and a generally 1930's colonial feel which is relaxed and comfortable.
Today we walked to the base of Cerro San Cristobal and took the funicular railway to near the top.
We walked around the church and statue of the Virgin Mary, then rode the cable car (Santiago Teleferico) down and back.
In the afternoon we went to the Museum of Visual Arts, which turned out to be all modern art in the style that is incomprehensible in any language. Continuing on our walk we passed through the area still inhabited and marked by the protesters.
On the way out for our walk we met Diego, who'll be our tour guide for the next few days. Apparently there are 23 people in the group and tomorrow morning we need to meet at 3am for a 6 o'clock flight to Punta Arenas; that's a three hour flight followed by a five hour bus trip. At least that will give us plenty of opportunity to catch up on sleep.
